It’s been 4 days since the release of Mageia 1, i’m still in the process of finding and installing software needed as well as testing this baby distro before i can file a complete review on it.

A little bit of surprise is Skype is not available in their repo, so i had to install it manually, here’s a short guide on how to install Skype under Mageia 1:

First, point your browser to skype.com and choose the download->Linux.

The download should begin, assuming the rpm file is downloaded into your Downloads folder ( if you are using chromium like i do ), open terminal, and then type:

sudo rpm -Uvh --nodeps skype-2.2.0.35-fedora.i586.rpm

Yup, Skype is installed and you can launch it from the application launcher, cheers
